cortes island accommodation

Suzanne Minogue, like her daughter, is an artist; her medium is food. She is one of the 'Hidden Treasures' of Cortes Island. She was drawn here by the natural beauty of the land and sea and by the warmth of the Cortes community. We're proud to count her as a good friend. She'll become your friend too after you've given your 'cook' a break during your visit here. Suzanne started her cooking career at prospector camps in BC, keeping hard working men nourished, so she knows how to keep outdoor people properly fed. Over the years Suzanne's interest in food has become more sophisticated. She spent a full year traveling around the world studying the cuisine of Thailand, Laos, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Spain. Her Mexican food is superb.

A late afternoon seafood dinner on the beach, looking east to the Coast Mountain Range, will make for long-lasting delicious memories. Suzanne's ability to enhance but not overpower local seafood shows a real sensitivity to the delicate tastes and freshness of locally raised and/or gathered oysters, clams, prawns and mussels.

Suzanne is happy to cater family gatherings, weddings and groups. She uses local organic foods (when available) and provides delicious, healthy foods for any occasion. She's also willing to accommodate special diet requirements. So whether it's fresh baked breads, muffins, cinnamon buns and granola or a fully catered island wedding, savor the magic and artistry with which Suzanne will grace your table.
