How to get here

Cortes Island is the northernmost of the southern Gulf Islands. From Campbell River on Vancouver Island you take a ferry to Quadra Island (15 min) then drive across Quadra to Heriot Bay (15 min) and take the ferry to Cortes Island (45 min).

Cortes Island is the northernmost of the southern Gulf Islands. The Gulf Islands are located north of the San Juan Islands and are in the sheltered waters between the mainland of British Columbia and Vancouver Island. Cortes Island is accessible by ferry, boat or float plane. The slowest but most interesting way to get here is via the ferries. The closest town centre is Campbell River which is two ferry rides away from Cortes. (see the ‘how to get here’ map and ferry links for complete instructions)

Hague Lake Waterfront Cottage

This wonderful lake front cottage is a fabulous holiday retreat! The cottage is ideal for romantic holidays or business retreats. The bright and sunny cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The lake is only steps away and you have access to a private sandy beach just down the road so you can swim to your hearts content. Bring your own canoe or kayak and explore the lakes. (no motor boats allowed on the lake)

The newly built cottage is very tastefully appointed and offers all the conveniences of a modern home. The front decks overlook the lake and give you access to the lake only steps away.

The loft bedroom is accessed by a spiral staircase and overlooks the lake.

The living room includes a wood stove for cozy intimate evenings. The cottage is tucked away behind the rocks and the lake view is tranquil and relaxing. The cottage is located within minutes of the wonderful K’was Bay hiking trails. This area is a bird watchers dream with many water birds and song birds nesting in the area as well as bald eagles, blue herons and king fishers plus there are beaver and otter in the lake as well as trout. more photos

This comfortable three bedroom home offers a great view of Manson’s Lagoon Marine Park plus access to the lagoon via a trail over moss covered rock bluffs. Explore the lagoon at low tide and enjoy the warm waters at high tide! Located across the road from Hague Lake public beach so you can enjoy both salt water and fresh water swimming.

The home has new sun decks for outdoor living plus a nice grassy play area and moss covered bluffs right in the front yard. There are good tenting sites for those who want to sleep out of doors! The property is very private yet located within easy walking distance of uptown Manson’s Landing.

The home features a sunken living room with fireplace and big picture windows to enjoy the great views. There is a home office desk set up with phone/fax and room for your lap top if you really have to work on your holiday.

There is a full kitchen plus large dining area as well as an outdoor eating area with gazebo to provide shade on those sunny summer days. The master bedroom has a Jacuzzi tub with picture window looking out at the rock bluffs, plus a toilet and sink. There is also a full bathroom with a large tiled shower. Hayes Road Cottage

This comfortable cottage has a bright and sunny open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and skylights. Located on a private 5 acres only minutes from sandy Smelt Bay beach.
The cottage is surrounded by open grassy areas and many rhododendrons which bloom in every hue and colour.

Here one gets that “Mediterranean” feeling while relaxing in the hammock on the deck under the shade of lush flowering vines that offer a cool retreat from the afternoon sun. The flowering vines attract hummingbirds and many other birds which add to the tranquility your restful holiday.

The open floor plan on the main floor with the high ceilings and the skylights give the cottage a spacious feel.

The upstairs area offers a sleeping loft with queen size futon in the main area which overlooks the living area. Plus there are two small sleeping rooms with twin size platform beds and a bonus extra sleeping loft at the peak of one of the sleeping rooms. A futon in the living room downstairs can be used as either a twin or king size bed.

The cottage offers all the modern comforts of home with a well equipped kitchen and the bounty of the sea only minutes away. The location offers easy access to the beach, hiking trails or paved country roads for biking. It is possible to walk along the beach all the way to Manson’s Landing or through forest trails to uptown Manson’s which offers shops and restaurants plus the farmers market on Fridays. It is also within walking or biking distance of Hollyhock Retreat.

This is a perfect retreat to recharge ones batteries and enjoy a relaxing quiet time. Whether snoozing in the hammock, playing in the yard, walking on the beach, swimming in the lake or taking in the local sights and activities this cottage is a great place to call home during your stay on the island. more photos

This waterfront cottage is full of charm! The cottage is fully equipped and can comfortably sleep four but is ideal for a romantic couples retreat. It is surrounded by a lush, landscaped garden and enjoys wonderful ocean views and offers easy access to Smelt Bay beach via a landscaped rock stairway. The cottage is small but very well laid out with open living, dining, kitchen area and loft bedroom that is accessed by a spiral stair case.

There is lots of out door living space with the covered front deck that features a sleeping nook with bug netting for a comfortable nights sleep. There is also a large dining deck that is very private and nicely landscaped and over looks the ocean as well as the garden. For the young at heart there is an old fashioned soaker bath tub outside as well as a shower in the bathroom.

The ocean view is wonderful and Smelt Bay beach is only steps away. The SW exposure makes for great sunsets. The property is fully fenced and very private giving the sense of being in your own beach front oasis. more photos
