Within the large fenced yard there are weathered outbuildings characteristic of a coastal lifestyle of the 1940’s, extensive flower and vegetable gardens, and 100 year old fruit trees which create a sense of quiet permanence. The home belongs to artists and displays some of their work.

Here one gets that “Mediterranean” feeling while relaxing in the hammock [...]]]> This comfortable cottage has a bright and sunny open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and skylights. Located on a private 5 acres only minutes from sandy Smelt Bay beach.
The cottage is surrounded by open grassy areas and many rhododendrons which bloom in every hue and colour.

Here one gets that “Mediterranean” feeling while relaxing in the hammock on the deck under the shade of lush flowering vines that offer a cool retreat from the afternoon sun. The flowering vines attract hummingbirds and many other birds which add to the tranquility your restful holiday.

The open floor plan on the main floor with the high ceilings and the skylights give the cottage a spacious feel.

The upstairs area offers a sleeping loft with queen size futon in the main area which overlooks the living area. Plus there are two small sleeping rooms with twin size platform beds. A futon in the living room downstairs can be used as either a twin or king size bed.

The cottage offers all the modern comforts of home with a well equipped kitchen and the bounty of the sea only minutes away. The location offers easy access to the beach, hiking trails or paved country roads for biking. It is possible to walk along the beach all the way to Manson’s Landing or through forest trails to uptown Manson’s which offers shops and restaurants plus the farmers market on Fridays. It is also within walking or biking distance of Hollyhock Retreat.

This is a perfect retreat to recharge ones batteries and enjoy a relaxing quiet time. Whether snoozing in the hammock, playing in the yard, walking on the beach, swimming in the lake or taking in the local sights and activities this cottage is a great place to call home during your stay on the island. more photos

The house is well laid out with an open plan kitchen, living room and place to dine. This area features spectacular views through giant sliding glass doors that open wide to the deck and create a wonderfully spacious indoor/outdoor living area that gets loads of sunshine. Dine in or out and marvel at the dramatic sunsets.

The four bedrooms are uniquely charming, each with an ocean view. One has French doors with steps to the garden, one a sliding glass door to a wisteria-clad and sun-dappled part of the deck, another has a bay window overlooking the ocean, and the fourth, a loft bedroom, has two charming dormer windows, each offering delightful views.
