Lovely waterfront cottage, dock & deep-water moorage. Gorge Harbour is a Cortes Island jewel and this home a vacationer’s dream. Tucked amid the islands of the Harbour, the stunning site of this charming, 2 bedroom plus den home, offers both adventure and solitude.

Just outside the door you can relax, go for a swim, or explore the islands and beach below. Centrally located, it’s within 15 minutes of all Cortes Island’s amenities -ferry, stores, restaurants & downtown Manson’s Landing; hiking trails, Marine and Provincial Parks, lake & salt-water beaches. The ‘Gorge’ is a boater’s paradise. A myriad of islands dot its sheltered waters and its spectacular entrance is complete with towering cliffs and pictographs. Whether you want a relaxing get away, a boating adventure or a family holiday, this  spot is ideal.

This comfortable, custom built-by-owner, cottage is surrounded by trees and ocean.  Each room overlooks the water and each contributes to the home’s unique character with its own distinctive style. Upstairs, the master bedroom with vaulted ceiling & old-fashioned tub; the guest bedroom with tailor-made/window-level bed; and the den that looks down a magical island passage; all with a connection to the water, provide bright, comfy corners for private relaxation. Downstairs, the open design offers both space and inclusion. The dining room and living room are of post & beam construction and have maple floors throughout; the fully equipped kitchen is built to work with ease and efficiency whether cooking alone or with friends and family.

Outside, the eastern deck is a perfect place to start the day with the sunlight scattered over the manicured backyard or to cool off at end the day with a family barbecue. Seen through the trees, the private dock is a short walk from the yard, along moss covered trail. The southside deck is the place to catch the sun and watch as it disappears down the channel. It is a stone’s throw from the water at high tide & at low tide Hume Brook trickles across the rocky beach below. The beach, ideal for beachcombing, is accessed through a terraced hillside garden to the west.

Enjoy quiet moments in private, peaceful spaces. Bathe in Gorge Harbour’s salt-water; take your boat to explore the Gorge or tour out to the famous cruising area and marine parks that surround Cortes Island; or take a short jaunt to Manson’s Landing’s white-sand spit to swim and snorkel in the lagoon; or to Hague Lake’s white-sand beach for a fresh-water dip; then experience a gourmet meal at one of the Island’s Restaurants or barbecue at home, sit around the outdoor fireplace, then cuddle up for a night of listening to music or watch a movie on satellite TV.

This waterfront cottage is ideal for families with older children. The rocky shoreline and proximity to the water make it undesirable for younger ones.  Although there is a resident cat that spends summers outside, we ask that you leave your pets at home.

The house comfortably sleeps 4 people but can accommodate up to 6. Sleeping facilities include 1 queen-sized master bed, 1 double guestroom bed and 1 double foldout futon in the den. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-sized fridge & stove, dishwasher, microwave and outside barbecue. There is one bathroom with shower, a laundry room that along with washer & dryer has toilet facilities and there is a tub in the master bedroom. Bathroom towels and some incidentals are provided but we ask that you bring your own beach towels & supplies. Stereo CD, VCR, DVD players and satellite TV are available as well as some books for in-home reading and a piano for some gentle home made music.

The dock safely accommodates boats up to 30 feet. For larger boats, it is a fair-weather tie up and deep water moorage is an option. We spend summers on our sailboat and when not off sailing use the neighbouring cabin (a short distance from the dock), for shore access. On occasion, we share the dock for our dinghy.
